At the end of the day, what every person wants is a safe and healthy community where they can work, play, and raise a family. Research shows that the neighborhood in which a child grows up is perhaps the most important factor in how well-off they are later in life – and right now, we are not doing enough to make sure that every child in our community has the opportunity to live in a safe and healthy environment.
The opioid crisis is a national emergency that reaches into every corner of society and has had devastating impacts on our region. While progress has been made, Alex believes that we must do more to stand up on behalf of our families and demand that their representatives work to solve this urgent issue. We cannot nibble around the edges while families’ lives are at stake. We can no longer simply treat the issues, we must end it once and for all. We must dedicate the resources that are needed, follow national best practices that show promise, and work to solve the root cause of the crisis.
